Feedback

I set up a Google Voice number and would like to get some feedback. This number simply recevies a message. You don’t need to leave your name.

Solving the problems of what to do about the Sponsor magazine project has had several possible alternatives mentioned in private communications.

So far, they are:

  • Put ads on the site to generate income;
  • Get 2-3 ‘patrons’ to put up $5 per month to cover the basic costs;
  • Sell “Sponsor” chotchkies thru Zazzle or CafePress;
  • Let the project die with grace

Or you may have your own idea.

Please call and leave your information on the Google Voice number:  (919) 926-8237

I don’t know what the limit is on the message, so plan on making your brief comment. If you want to make a longer respect, do it in an email to sponsormagazine@gmail.com.

Two Things

It is the first Sunday of the month and the next podcast in the Sponsorship series. Part four of the five part talk on Inventory as a Life Long process with Scott R. This has become one of my favorite series from XA-Speakers.org because it is personal and specific. It may help your sponsees, but it definitely offers the sponsor something worth sharing. Podcast here.

Secondly, there is a special announcement on the future of the Sponsor project. My realities has changed – mostly medical issues – and if the prod cast, magazine or book cannot at least coer its own costs, I will have to give it up. Details here.

One eMail?

Just because I’m not as focused on the podcasts does not mean I’ve abandoned the Sponsor Magazine project.

We’ve come to a point where we need your feedback to proceed.

We have be re-thinking the magazine. It has been an effort to reach a new audience through flashy graphics and layout (check http://sponsormagazine.org) and have noticed the submissions have been getting more scholarly, researched with serious discussion of the topics around recovery, program history and the sponsorship process.

We consider the free-download absolute bedrock for our Tradition based publishing effort. Always. But for the hard copy offer, we have founda cheaper way of bringing out a 64-page digest or ‘half-page’ format without raising the price.

SPONSOR MAGAZINE #4 was going to be the biggest to date, and was going to increase the price by about a dollar in printed form. Going to the digest means we can lock in a $4.50 price, focus on meaningful content, and keep.

We might even be so old fashioned as to publish the content on the cover – or maybe the back cover, like the old Reader’s Digests.

#4 has two very good articles on the Pre-History of AA and the development of the Narcotics Anonymous program. Several short articles as well.

#5 is coming together.

We can re-present the first three issues into the new format and possibly add new material to what was published before.

But we really need your input on the move from magazine to digest/journal. We aren’t asking too much. You don’t have to post your identity on facebook. One email. What do you say about a less ‘modern’ look in favor of a ‘journal’ presentation?¬† Send one email with a yes/no on the format change, and provide whatever addition comment you miht be willing to make.

Send email to sponsormagazine at gmail dot com.

Changing to a 5, maybe a 4.

Later tonight I will post the next Sponsor Magazine Podcast and a change will follow.

I have new realities I have to deal with and am possibly dellusional in this project. Only two people respond to the posts, no one has commented to the blog and despite the subscription information that says x number of hits to the page or blog, I’m working in a vaccuum.

So I will step back. I will post a new podcast for Sponsorship on the first Sunday of each month starting in April (so there will be a post next week), and a new podcast for Speaker in a Box on the third Sunday of each month.

This will free me for projects that more clearly reaching an audience and will be tracked through this blog.

But it is my nature that I don’t like change. Of any kind. Even when it means things may imrpove within my new realities. That has not changed. What has changed is I am willing to take the action, make an attempt, but I also review what is happening and make changes that are appropriate. Not 1 or 10 on the scale, but somehwere between the extremes.

If you have gotten anything out of the original Anonymous Review Podcast, the first three issues of Sponsor Magazine, the Recovery Reader, or the other podcasts, I’d like to hear your thoughts on what you get from them, or how they can change.

RSS – Sort of…

These feeds will work to access the RSS feed directly in Firefox. They can be entered manually into iTunes podcast aggregator. They do NOT work in Chrome or Safari. Don’t know why. I don’t have the knowledge necessary to debug the RSS. Anyone who has that knowledge who would be willing to help out please check the help page.

iTunes will display ALL of the podcasts, BUT NOT IN THE RIGHT ORDER. Very frustrating.

I haven’t decided what day of the week will be the day for hte new podcast… I’m thinking Thursday, so the new meeting is up in time for Friday, when many people need an extra meeting. The format is not perfect, but it’s not a bad meeting.

For the not really good news, RSS Continues to kick my ass and I don’t know when I’ll be able to get iTunes on board. But you can go to the links directly, download the files if you like, and not have to wait for the RSS.

Correction on the earlier podcasts

We had some good information to replace some information on the blurb for the first four podcasts in the new series.

One of the nice things about a living media is you aren’t stuck with mistakes that last forever.

The first four podcasts will be re-engineered to correct the mistakes – and maybe improve the sound, too. This will NOT interfere with the regular release of the current series… #8 goes up next week and the RSS will reflect the re-engineered episodes.

Something Old, Something New

This is new, but old, too.

SPONSOR MAGAZINE PODCAST #7 is up and ready to be heard.

http://podcast.sponsormagazine.org/podcast.html

And this is becoming old hat – the podcast going up every week Sunday night/Monday morning.

This is the second group. Karen C and Chris S in Part 3 of their six part intensive one day workshop; “Working the Steps Through Sponsorship.”

The previous six podcasts are also available by clicking on the PREVIOUS PODCASTS link at the bottom of the new podcast announcement.

We also had something new – 80 visitors in one day yesterday. We encourage you to visit our Facebook Page and maybe click Like if you like it.

SPONSOR MAGAZINE PODCAST is also available through iTunes for your MP3 player, iTunes, iPod or iPad. You will be able to find it by searching the iTunes directory, or with this link.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/sponsor-magazine-podcast/id584713627

The podcast can be accessed for other podcast aggregators (such as Juice or several Android podcast apps) directly through:

http://sponsormagazine.org/xml/smp.xml

Glad you could join us and hope you will explore what all is offered. More than 80 podcasts (three series), an anthology of writings on AA, Steps and Recovery (RECOVERY READER) and three issues (so far) of SPONSOR MAGAZINE.

All of it, always, free to down load and free to share.

If you like what you see, please subscribe to the Blog (this page), or “Like” the Facebook page, or send a note. You feedback is important to us.
